Alet and Nosabatha ensure that we produce the best quality food possible, with menus that stay current and seasonal.
Thanks to our team, Orange Grove Farm is today a tribute to the dedication and loyalty of our staff, who worked closely with us to turn the farm around when we first took it over in 2009.
Current owner, Carlos Araujo, was born in Portugal and arrived in South Africa with his family many years ago. He embraced the South African culture and considers this his only home, even though he still loves traditional Portuguese cuisine, wine, coffee and a good Cuban Cigar.
Carlos spent most of his life searching for diamonds. This took him on many adventurous journeys through the African bush and desert, to foreign countries and far away cities, but the urge to return home always remained with him.
During his diamond mining career, he decided that farming offered a relaxed and laid-back lifestyle, so he decided to settle down in the beautiful Cape. After a long and exhaustive search for that one very special place, he fell in love with Orange Grove Farm the first time he laid eyes on it.
Under his leadership, the farm has undergone a complete transformation. It started with the building of new dams, upgrading of the existing vines, and the planting of additional vineyards and olive groves. Then followed the careful and loving restoration and renovation of existing buildings and the building of all our Guest Houses, stores, hiking trails, MTB Trails and 4×4 trails.
